Why do larger businesses pay a lower price per kWh?

Commercial tariffs like the 3.0TD are designed for high consumption. Energy suppliers offer lower unit rates (price per kWh) because the fixed daily charges (potencia) cover heavily regulated network and distribution costs.

However, this means that while your price per kWh might look incredibly cheap, if your contracted power is too high, your overall bill will still be enormous. Managing a business bill is an exercise in balancing the unit rate against the fixed capacity charges.

The 6 Periods of the 3.0TD Tariff

The defining feature of the 3.0TD tariff is that both energy (kWh) and contracted power (kW) are divided into 6 distinct periods (P1 to P6).

• P1 (Peak): The most expensive energy, typically daytime on weekdays.
• P6 (Off-Peak): The cheapest energy, applying to nights, weekends, and national holidays.
