The 6 Periods Explained
The 6 periods are divided not just by the time of day, but by the month of the year. For instance, January (a high-demand winter month) has different daily schedules than August.
Peak (The most expensive)
Applies only to daytime hours during peak winter (Jan, Feb, Dec) and peak summer (July).
High / Medium
Shoulder hours during peak months, or daytime hours during transitional months (Nov, March).
Low
Daytime hours during the cheapest months of the year (April, May, October).
Off-Peak (The cheapest)
Applies unconditionally to all hours on Weekends and National Holidays, and from midnight to 8:00 AM every single weekday.
The Increasing Potencia Rule

You cannot have 50 kW in P1 and then 20 kW in P6. This forces businesses to carefully examine their peak usage times. Often, businesses close on weekends (P6) but are forced to pay for extreme high capacity (which they don't use) simply because their Monday morning (P1) requires it.
Maximeter Penalties
A standard home meter trips the power if you exceed your contracted limit. Commercial 3.0TD meters use a Maximeter. The power never trips, but the meter records your highest 15-minute spike in demand.
If that spike is even slightly higher than your contracted power for that period, you will be hit with an aggressive financial penalty calculated by a complex algorithm (often referred to as the 85-105% rule). This single line item often costs businesses hundreds of wasted euros every month.
