Ofte Stilte Spørsmål
Can any electrician issue a CIE?
No. Only an electrician registered as an instalador autorizado de baja tensión with the regional authority can legally issue a CIE. Always verify your electrician holds this registration before commissioning the work.
What if the inspection fails?
If the electrician finds deficiencies — such as outdated wiring, inadequate earthing, or an undersized consumer unit — they will quote for the necessary remedial work. Once completed, a new inspection can be carried out and the CIE issued.
Can I get a CIE for a property I am buying?
Yes. As a buyer, you can instruct an authorised electrician to inspect the property and issue a CIE before completion. If deficiencies are found, you can negotiate the repair cost with the seller or walk away.
